    in case you were curious

  3. Off Topic Question:

Reaper, have you considered playing foreign markets?

Dr Steenbarger had an excellent post the other day (which you can read here http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-daytrading-stocks-in-us-is.html )
about how the activity is shifting away from the US. obviously there will always be things to trade here as long as our economy functions at all, but the hot money and volatility might be greater abroad. It’s short but as usual with his stuff it’s a good read.

I think Sykes may instinctively now this and may be partly why he is going to China….

It’s been interesting to watch the S&P mirror moves already made by the $SSEC a couple months earlier…

I suppose this could create new difficulties/opportunities for active traders as now you may not only have to select the right vehicles & sectors but the right markets as well…

  4. dang it I made a typo (know not “now”), this what happens when you are working five hours past bedtime 🙁

  5. Tasty — I played Volkswagen last fall during its uber-short squeeze. I wouldn’t want to play other markets for the most part just for lifestyle reasons–I don’t want to trade all night and day. Also, language barriers for some and the lack of scanning tools I am familiar with are another reason for me to skip them. Canada I would consider trading, though. Anyway, there will be plenty for me in the US for a long time.

  6. “I think Sykes may instinctively know this and may be partly why he is going to China…”

from reading Sykes blog and The Dean’s I think he went there to meet up with the Dean and possibly others. He did have The Dean over at his girlfriends parents for dinner and posted the pics of it and all.

  7. meyou — I use Jing Pro. It costs $15 per year and limits videos to 5 minutes in length, but it makes screencasting and uploading to Youtube easy.

  8. Reaper – thinking of shorting SCLN on green to red in order to catch a high point before tim sells on monday?

  9. Tim would sell long before it went red. But if it does open even and quickly go red, yeah I’d short that with wild abandon.
