Trade recap: Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Pardon the lack of substantive blogging (and trading) over the last few days; I was in New Orleans for a friend’s wedding. Saturday night I took my wife out to dinner at Restaurant August, one of Gayot’s top 40 restaurants in the US in 2008. We both had the restaurant’s seven-course tasting menu. I also made sure to get some very good (and surprisingly cheap) pastries at Le Croissant d’Or in the French Quarter.

Daily profit (yesterday and today): $69.90

Me enjoying a beef fillet at Restaurant August in New Orleans (course 5 of 7):

  2. Hey Reaper,

Glad to hear you’ve been finding time to relax!

I was wondering if I could get your opinion on VRMLQ; I’ve honestly never see a stock do anything like what it has done in the past month ($0.02 all the way up to $15)

The “Q” indicates that it’s bankrupt and likely worth about $0.00, no?

    1. It is rare for a bankrupt company to have value for the shareholders, but not impossible. Considering their cancer test received FDA approval and they got some money from warrant holders exercising, they may be able to sell assets or shares to pay off their debtholders and emerge from BK safely. I still would not hold a stock like this long-term. They also havern’t filed a 10Q in almost a year.

  3. wnkender: Not sure myself, however, back in sept they did have a drug approved by the FDA – that could certainly have caused the spike. Q does mean in bankruptcy…however, remember a stock is ALWAYS worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. Perhaps they are restructuring?

Anyway…I am logging on via my laptop today as my main machine died a terible death sometime during the night…so that is what I am working on all morning.

Also, I HAVE to get my ticket/room for vegas — looking forward to that quite a bit! May just stay at the Excalibur so as to save on cab to the session each day.

Wish me luck and good trading to everybody today!

    –Joe

    1. Total (including a signed copy of the head chef’s cookbook) came to $420, or $210 per person. Quite reasonable considering the food was excellent.
